I'm excited to share a new diptych from my Abstract Floral series! I had sketched out a plan for this shoot in November, but was bummed thinking I wouldn't be able to find peonies in winter. So, when I ventured into a Whole Foods in Fayetteville, AR and found bushels of peonies for Christmas, I was psyched! I actually drove these blooms 12 hours, all the way back to my studio in Colorado, so I could shoot them. My daughter-dog, Sadie (a corgi), tried to eat them on the way home, but I set her strait.
My goal when creating these prints was to create floral artwork that was feminine but not saccharine. I decided to balance the sweetness of the flowers with a dark moody background. I really love how these turned out, and I'm releasing them for Valentine's Day! To shop this look, click here. These prints are available framed and unframed in sizes from 20" X 30" to 36" X 54."
For reference, the prints in the interior above measure 24" X 36." They are framed in a white contemporary frame. Sometimes clients ask me - "what defines a contemporary frame?" Contemporary frames don't have curves and aren't overly adorned. When framing colorful artwork, it's best to go with a simple frame to prevent your space from looking over-designed.
